NEW’s Community-Driven,
Multi-Sector, Multi-Partner Approach
Prosperity Center is a 24,000 three-story commercial building in Pico-Union, Los Angeles, and the site of three nonprofits working in tandem to improve the livelihood of our client families through a unique and innovative partnership. NEW acquired and rehabilitated the dilapidated building in 2000 and it has served as a community site since 2003.
Because NEW learned early on, that breaking generational cycles of poverty in our communities means breaking away from the traditional compartmentalization of human services, The Prosperity Center now serves as a community anchor for NEW’s five local affordable housing developments and over 300 units of affordable housing within walking distance of the Center. In this multipurpose commercial development, NEW now houses:
Our own corporate offices
NEW’s Latino Tech Net and Financial Literacy programs
Our partner NEW Academy of Sciences and Arts public charter elementary school, and
6,000 sqft of clinic space for our second nonprofit partner, the Arroyo Vista Family Health Center
