NEW’s Founder Appointed to Council

On a historic day in Los Angeles history, New Economics for Women’s (NEW) co-founder and board officer, Beatrice Stotzer, provided a compelling and heartfelt testimony in favor of the Women and Girls Initiative, co-authored by supervisors Sheila Kuehl and Hilda Solis. What an honor for Bea and NEW!

According to Kuehl, “This critical initiative will address a longstanding blind-spot in our policies and services to better address the real-life needs and barriers faced by women and girls. We ask women to juggle work and family, make their scarce resources go farther, and adapt to systems tailored for men. Now it’s time for LA County to make the system fair for everyone.” On that day, December 13th, 2016 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in support of the 5-year initiative.

Now, we are pleased to announce that Bea Stotzer has also been appointed, on the recommendation of Supervisor Hilda Solis, to the Women and Girls Initiative Governing Council.

Congratulations Bea, from the entire New Economics for Women family!
