LOS ANGELES, CA (July 30, 2022 | 10 am to 3 pm) – New Economics for Women – Women’s Business Center (NEW-WBC) presents “NEW-WBC Fusion Festival”, a small business expo where experts from fashion, entertainment, financial access and business workshops (bilingual English/Spanish) meet women and underserved small business entrepreneurs in a dynamic and engaging setting.  The event will take place at Pierce College Performing Arts Center from 10 am to 3 pm, and prominently feature 4 of the NEW-WBC’s most popular programs – Women in Entertainment (WIE), “Made in LA” Fashion, Access to Capital, and WBC On the Road “12 Pasos cómo iniciar un Negocio” – through multiple panel discussions, guest appearances from Hollywood influencers like actress Edwina Findley and visualization artist Lazaro Hernandez from Marvel Studios, LA fashion designers, banking and financial industry specialists, and local governments officials. Although topics are business-focused, programs will have an entertainment component making the day more engaging and exciting!

NEW Executive Director Maggie Cervantes says, “At NEW-WBC, we help women and underserved entrepreneurs and business owners plan, create, and grow their businesses.  NEW also sparks economic mobility for women and their families by taking a whole family transformational approach in supporting their business and other economic mobility service needs.  Please join us for this informative event and get to know NEW and our multitude of business and other economic mobility services.”

Multi-award-winning Hollywood filmmaker Genevieve Anderson concurs by saying, “NEW-WBC has not only been instrumental in getting my business off the ground, they have become a family, continuing to support me on my entrepreneurial journey. Being a female entrepreneur is challenging and consistently daunting – it often feels like the world doesn’t want or expect you to make it. It is organizations like NEW-WBC that literally keep the dream afloat on a daily basis, offering support in the form of webinars, one-on-one meetings, grant and loan opportunities, and events to showcase our businesses. I wouldn’t be where I am without them and am grateful every day for their support.”

The venue opens to the public at 10 am. Programming for the event will take place indoors in the Performing Arts Center. Join our star-studded Women In Entertainment (WIE) panel at 10:15 am, Access to Capital panel at 11 am, our bilingual “On the Road” panel featuring entrepreneur success stories at 1 pm, and our “Made in LA” Fashion Program presentation and runway show at 2 pm with guest appearances by UK high-fashion model Kelly Osasere, award-winning pianist Adam Peri, and others.  During each program, enter to win iPads and tablets. Each program will have its own raffle and winner! (There is no cost to enter the raffle.  The raffle prize winner needs to be present to win the prize.)

Please note: Should L.A. County remain in the high COVID-19 community level, which is defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there may be a new masking order.  Please be prepared to bring your own mask or utilize one that will be provided whenever you are indoors.

In addition to showcasing the business panel discussions indoors, there will be an outdoor business zone with vendor booths for shopping, and resource booths like the NEW Family Source Center which provides wrap-around family services for housing, generational education, and financial literacy, and other family support services.  Don’t forget to stop by the vendor booths and get a stamped passport to enter into raffles and win prizes! (There is no cost to enter the raffle.  The raffle prize winner needs to be present to win the prize.)

Antionette Kegler who is a NEW-WBC client and TV producer for America’s Court with Judge Ross says, NEW Women’s Business Center has been the light in the dark throughout the pandemic when it comes to educating women in small business! Their support and priceless business knowledge are a valuable asset to any business structure.”

Ruth Garcia-Corrales, Program Director for NEW-WBC adds, “We are proud to present our first Entertainment-Fashion business expo and festival showcasing multiple topics that are geared specifically for women and underserved entrepreneurs and business owners.  I invite our WBC clients, any person who dreams of opening a business, and the local business communities to take advantage of this opportunity to network and gain access to more business resources.”
