$65,000 – $85,000 (100% FTE) $31.25 – $40.86 per hour
Status:
Salary-Exempt
Employees to be supervised:
1 Book Keeper
Work Hours:
Monday – Friday 40 hours/ week, some evenings and weekends required

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Accountant will perform various professional accounting duties including, maintenance and analysis of accounting records, preparation of accounting schedules, reports and financial statements. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies, procedures and contract requirements. Maintain and sustain the accuracy and integrity of all accounting activities for New Economics for Women. As an ambassador for the organization, this person is also responsible for actively supporting the overall mission and vision of NEW.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledgers
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial statements by preparing monthly journal entries, bank reconciliation, and various schedules for overhead allocations
  • Conduct internal audits to maintain accurate and precise financial systems and documents
  • Prepare monthly and or quarterly Cash Requests and Expenditure Report
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Reconcile accounts including credit card and other expense accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit packages
  • Supervise Bookkeeper
  • Bank run and other special projects

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in managing government and foundation grant contracts is preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent follow-through
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software is preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, business administration, or related field
  • Five (5)-years of experience in accounting in a not-for-profit industry is preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License, Liability Insurance, and an automobile in good working condition
  • Fingerprinting
